This is a specialised accounting course. It exposes the students to the application of accounting theory, accounting standards, principles and procedures in international financial accounting and reporting. It introduces the student to the international and local regulators of accounting on how they develop the harmonized international financial reporting standards and the new conceptual framework. It also emphasizes the legal framework of limited companies and the preparation of published final accounts of quoted and non-quoted companies (especially the manufacturing companies). The course will also introduce the preparation of cash flow statements, statement of changes in equity and the determination of assets (the movement of non-current assets). The course goes further to create awareness of the current emerging issues in financial reporting as well and non-financial reporting.
