A course in Strategic Management usually has two aims: to draw together the various strands of a business course to provide a holistic view of the business organisation, and to develop a strategic perspective of business management. Usually, the course is presented in an experiential manner to maximise student exposure to strategic decision-making. There will be lectures, but the emphasis will be on class discussion of concepts and applications based on materials in the texts, and drawing on other resources. There will be a strong emphasis on student management of the learning process.
