COM 247A contains a substantial writing component and fulfils part of the basic education requirement in writing.
Students are expected to learn how to gather and evaluate information to craft stories for the broad public.
This course teaches the core skills of news judgment, news writing, basic reporting and editing, feature writing, law and ethics -and covering news from diverse communities.
The emphasis is on basic news reporting and writing skills that students will find necessary for any career in journalism.
The only way to acquire these skills is mostly by practice, so students will write a lot.
I hope we'll have interactive and interesting sessions. God bless you all.
