Nutrition is a science that examines what food contains and how these substances affect human health. It is a critical component in Public and Environmental Health because it will equip learners with ways of improving the diet and avoiding malnutrition. Malnutrition has been known to lead to poor immunity. Together with lack of hygiene, presence of vectors and other factors, it will contribute to sustenance of disease cycle in a community. it is important to break the disease cycle and nutrition is a weapon in achieving this goal. It will also help the learner to avoid non-communicable diseases associated with poor nutrition.
