The purpose of the course is to provide students with a foundation for understanding the literature of the Old Testament and to apply its teachings to their lives.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the learner will be able to;
Demonstrate a basic understanding of the history and literature of the Old Testament.
Outline major theological themes of the Old Testament such as creation, monotheism, election, covenant and promise.
Identify and explain the content and context of each of the 7 historical periods covered by the Old Testament .
Show the relevance of ancient Israel’s history and culture for interpreting the Old Testament.
Apply the lessons learnt from the Old Testament to contemporary situations facing our contexts today.
