COURSE CONTENT

The course will focus on the following key areas:  definition of IL, historical foundations of modern International Law; the nature and sources of international law; theoretical and conceptual perspectives of international law including realism, neo-realism, liberalism, neo-liberal institutionalism, legal positivism, constructivism; concepts of State Sovereignty, State Equality, Relationship between International law and domestic law, state recognition and its implication in international law, various related theories such as monism, dualism, declaratory and constitutive will be discussed; major actors in international law namely, states and individuals, key institutions such as the United Nations and its specialized agencies together with Non-Governmental Organizations and their roles will be explained.
