Communication field study (COM 507, previously COM 499) is a capstone course taken by communication undergraduate students in their final year of study. Communication practicum allows students to gain competence in their major area of study through industry attachment. Public relations students who are planning to take their practicum must have completed the following courses: COM 247, COM 263, COM 322, COM 426, COM 427, COM 445, COM 459 and COM 473. In addition, students must have completed their third year of study and most courses in their area of concentration. Students are required to clock 280 hours of work for the duration of the 7 weeks.
